Imposter Syndrome – what it is, how it affects you, and what you can do about it

Updated: Jun 6, 2022

Online Event

Wednesday, 29th June 2022

09:30 – 11:30 BST

Via Zoom

Are you an imposter?

Have you ever felt like a phony? Perhaps you fail to recognise your skills and competencies and attribute your success to sheer dumb luck? Maybe you are plagued with thoughts of self-doubt or feel under constant pressure to prove your worth? Or perhaps you live in constant fear of being exposed as a fraud because you can’t live up to people’s expectations?

Well if any of the above resonates with you, then you may be suffering from Imposter Syndrome.

70% of people will suffer with Imposter Syndrome at some stage during their life

The problem with Imposter Syndrome is that it can be a double-edged sword.

On the one hand, it can make you work even harder, so be a positive driver of performance; but when it’s overdone, it can lead to workaholism, stress and damage your confidence, your mental health, and wellbeing.

According to a 2015 study, stress kills 120,000 people a year

So, now the sixty-four-billion-dollar question….

Do you want to do something about it?

Join Estelle Read, qualified Coach, Trainer, best-selling Author, and Chartered Fellow of the CIPD at our online event dedicated to the topic of Imposter Syndrome.

During this session, Estelle will share some of her findings from her book “Inner Brilliance ⋅ Outer Shine: 10 Antidotes to Imposter Syndrome, Workaholism and Stress” (available on Amazon) and show you how to optimise your success, performance, productivity and wellbeing to lead your best business-life.

Agenda

  • Where Imposter Syndrome comes from and the impact it has on confidence

  • Imposter Syndrome and the connections with performance, (the things we want to achieve) but also workaholism and stress

  • 2 Antidotes to Imposter Syndrome, which improve confidence, enhance self-belief and reduce stress

This is a Members Only event, so if you're not yet a member, now's your chance - it's FREE to join and will only take you 30 seconds to complete.

Membership of the MCN is open to the military spouses & partners of Serving personnel, Veterans & Reservists.
