Working at this co-working hub has been a game-changer for me. Not only has it provided a professional and energising space to focus and be productive, but it’s also given me access to a vibrant community of like-minded professionals. Networking has never felt easier or more organic – I’ve met people from all different fields, which has opened unexpected opportunities for collaboration and growth. I have also been able to tap into people’s knowledge. I feel like I am stepping into a workspace and my whole mindset adjusts accordingly. It’s streamlined my workflow and saved me so much time.

The structure [of the virtual coworking] was great. A little time to get to know each other with blocks of focus time so we were having a better and more healthy balanced working schedule. It is so easy to get carried away or lose focus when working on your own at home so this was a great way to concentrate and be productive.

I am easily distracted by things going on around me. So, if the washing machine finishes, for example, I feel compelled to hang it up as soon as it came to the end of its cycle. I couldn’t do that when I was in the hub, which in turn meant I could be more focussed on my work and more productive when I was there. It naturally forced me to have a better work routine and work in a more structured way. It also gave me separation from home and work, something I value, and meant I wasn’t cluttering my home up with work stuff everywhere.

When I first arrived at Clyde, I knew nobody. Joining the hub has allowed me to forge meaningful relationships with not one but three other military spouses, which has enriched my life beyond measure and helped me to feel much more integrated with the military community here. When you don’t have children, the number of places where you can network is limited. The hub is the only place where I can new meet people with whom I have things in common. For people in my situation, it’s a lifeline.

Having a coworking hub on my doorstep has literally changed my life. I still get to work in a professional office space, something I really value and need, but without the long and onerous commute. Being able to come to work in the hub has given me more in a few months than working from home has given me in the three years I’ve been doing that. I have absolutely everything I need – a flexible and convenient workspace closer to home, less stress, more time, and some great friendships.

Coworking hubs offer an escape from the distractions of home life and provide a great space to meet new people and build relationships with like-minded individuals. Through the hub I’ve been able to meet some lovely people and make some brilliant friendships, friendships that extend far beyond the walls of the hub and seamlessly spill over into my private social life, which has improved my quality of life on base immensely.

If you work from home, but are not into sport, don’t belong to a book club, or perhaps don’t have children, it’s harder to meet new people. So being able to connect through the common ground you do share, so your job or your business, is vital. And what better place to do that in a coworking hub that is designed with military spouses in mind. There are so many soft benefits to hub membership – it’s so much more than just a place to work.

I firmly believe that every military base should have a coworking hub. It’s a vital part of every base’s infrastructure, and key to supporting the physical and emotional wellbeing of military spouses and partners. Having access to a coworking hub means you’ll never be alone again. It certainly saved me. My social life is better. My quality of life overall has improved. I’m less lonely. I feel better connected. I’m part of a brilliant community, and loving life again.
